Route 1 (Morning)

Take the through express train for Nara which leaves 9:31 am at the track No. 3 or 4 of the Kintetsu Line in Kyoto Station, and you will arrive at Nara at 10:16. If you arrived at Kyoto Station earlier than 9:31 am take the express line for Tenri (天理）9:01, or for Kashihara-Jingu-Mae (橿原神宮前) 9:16. In these cases you must change the trains for Nara at Saidaiji Station, the 7th stop. Thus arriving at Nara at around 10:00 am, the morning schedule begins with the Kofukuji Temple, then to Todaiji Temple and to the Kasuga Taisha Shrine following the trains time table (available at every stations).

Route 2 (Afternoon)

After lunch, start for for the afternoon tour (Toshidaiji, Yakushiji and Horyuji Temple).

At first take the bus for "Rokujoyama" (六条山). Bus No. 63, Bus stop No. 8, which is at the West side of Kintetsu Building at least 1:18 pm. This bus leaves every 30 minutes. Get off the bus at Toshodaiji-mae (it takes about 15 minutes). From this temple to the Yakushiji Temple is only 10 minutes by walk.

Near the Yakushiji is the Kintetsu Nishinokyo (西の京) station. Buy a ticket to Tsutsui (筒井) and take the train getting off at Tsutsui Station, the 3rd stop.

The bus stop for Horyuji can be reached going over the highway, pedestrian crossing walk to right. The front destination indicator of the bus is Oji (王寺), bus No. 60, which leaves every 20 minutes.

If you want to visit only Horyuji Temple, take the same bus at the bus stop No.8. The bus leaves every 20 minutes (bus No.11, 31 and 51)

When you return to Kyoto take bus No. 60 at the bus stop which is opposite side you got off before. Get off the bus at tsutsui bus stop. At Tsutsui Station buy a ticket to Kyoto and change trains for Kyoto at Saidaiji Station.

The express train for Kyoto leaves every 15 minutes.
